I Love My Ipod:
02/10/2009
I would say that of any electronic device other than a computer, the device I find of the most use, the most used and the greatest addition to my week is my Ipod. If music is your niche, The Ipod, the Zune or Sandisk will meet your needs.
That said what takes the Ipod to the next level of better is the wide variety of free podcasts available through the Itunes Store. As I type this I'm listening to the Slate Dailey Podcast while sitting at the computer editing this page. Through the week I listen (and watch) 4 hours daily. It is my way to keep fresh and informed on what's in the news. As I work second shift much of what I would listen to or watch is broadcast at hours I can't take in. The podcast format frees me to take in media when it's convenient to me.
And it's not just audio as many video podcasts are available, Keith Oberman on MSNBC, The Rachel Maddow Show and TED Talks are three of my favorites. Now instead of being glued to a Television late at night I can watch in the morning or the following afternoon if that suits me.
And now we come to the Easter Egg everyone ought to be talking about, ItunesU. Collage courses available for free on a wide array of topics. You need to use this! Now there is now even less excuse for ignorance.
